JEFF JONES
Jeffery Defel Thomas-Jones Jr./Jeff “BootZ” Jr (Director/Cinematographer/Producer), a Brooklyn-born and Queens-raised talent, has a rich background in dance and filmmaking. As the son of Jeffery Defel Jones Sr. and Crystal Ruthette Thomas, Jeff’s passion for dance began at the age of nine when he was enrolled in Devore Dance Center, a local dance school in Hollis, Queens. This passion persisted through his time at Benjamin Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens, where he participated in the performance arts program.
In 2006, Jeff attended Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA, where he pursued both Criminal Justice and Mass Media Arts. He would eventually continue his love of dance as a member of House Arrest 2 Championship Dance Team Inc. Chapter 10 HypnotiQ, where he began to not only serve as a dance member but soon began filming and creating videos showcasing his dance team’s performances. This would eventually lead to employment by Clark Atlanta University as a Production Assistant to eventually Assistant Director for the university’s TV News Program “CAU TV Newsbreak”
Although he explored other career paths over the years, Jeff returned to Atlanta in 2018, determined to make a career in film and dance. He started as a videographer at Groove2Musik Studios and quickly rose to the position of Media Director. Jeff has collaborated with various artists, institutions, and creatives, including T-Pain, Prince Charlez, Havier Daivon, The Dance Network, and local Atlanta talent, producing high-quality professional videos that encapsulate and enhance the art forms of dance, music, and film.
Jeff is a firm believer in the power of dance to convey the soul of music and is committed to capturing it on film with care and intention. As the Media Director of Groove2Musik, his mission is to provide dancers with the resources, knowledge, and opportunities needed to showcase their art to the world, ensuring that dance and all the artists who embrace this craft are portrayed in their best light.
